Christmas Eve 7 PM Traditional Worship
Join us at 7 PM for our Christmas Eve Traditional Worship, including lessons and carols. We will have Communion and end the service by candlelight, singing Silent Night.
Christmas Eve 4:30 PM Family Service
Join us at 4:30 PM for our Christmas Eve Family Worship, complete with an impromtu kids’ Christmas Pageant. As we gather, the youngest among us will share the Christmas Story as we welcome the newborn Jesus in our midst. We will have Communion and end the service by candlelight, singing Silent Night.
Kids - want to help tell the story? Come at 4 PM to find a costume, or wear one of your own! We will have angels, shepherds… and maybe even a Buzz Lightyear and Elsa! If you would like a speaking role, reach out to Pastor Ben.
Advent Vespers 3
Join us on Wednesday evenings throughout Advent, beginning December 3, at 6 PM in the Sanctuary for Vespers worship. We will spend time in prayer, with contemplative, Taizé style worship, and listen to a conversation with a member of our community that reflects on the Advent theme of the week. We hope you will take part in this weekly invitation to pause during the always busy holiday season.
On December 10, Vespers will be combined with our monthly potluck!

Advent Vespers

Trunk or Treat 2025
Join us for a fun and family-friendly evening of Trunk or Treat!
🚗 Cars will be decorated and lined up in the church parking lot, each offering treats for kids.
🎨 Costumes encouraged! (Nothing too spooky, please — keep it family-friendly.)
☕ Hot chocolate, cider, and light refreshments will be available inside.
📸 A fall-themed photo booth will be set up for families to capture the memories.
Blessing of the Animals
Join us in worship on Sunday, October 5 for a special service where Pastor Ben will pray a blessing over everyone’s furry, fuzzy, scaly, and even slimy friends! You are invited to bring your pet with you to worship. All are welcome!
Please ensure that pets are properly leashed, caged, or otherwise contained as needed for their safety and the safety of all. If your pet doesn’t play well with others or is unable to be transported, bring a collar, photo, toy, or other connected item as a symbolic representation of your pet.
Courage Bible Study
Beginning October 2, a new adult small group will kick off with a book study! In Courage: Jesus and the Call to Brave Faith, UMC bishop, pastor and author Tom Berlin challenges us to unlock the courage that we already possess as Christ followers, and in doing so, we can begin to find the remarkable life Jesus offers us. Brianna Richardson will host and coordinate the group. Contact Tanya via email to sign up!
The study includes short videos that the group will watch together each week after reading the assigned chapter. If ordering the book is a financial strain and you would like to commit to joining this group, just let Pastor Ben know and we will get a book in your hands! The book is available in both paperback and e-book.
Starting Point
You’re invited to join Pastor Ben and other church leaders at 6pm for a light supper and time of discussion. Come and learn what it means to be a member and how you can get more involved with SUMC. Monthly Potluck
Join us in the Fellowship Hall on September 17 at 6pm for our Monthly Potluck. Bring a dish to share and drink are provided. Come when you’re able and leave when you need to - this is a casual time of connecting with one another over a meal.
Joy Jam
Mark your calendars and spread the word: Joy Jam is happening on Sunday, September 7, from 1–3 PM, and you won’t want to miss it! This community-wide FREE celebration is the perfect way to say goodbye to summer. Join us for an afternoon filled with live music, food, and family-friendly activities for all ages.

Our worship includes a variety of music, mostly piano led, a time just for kids, scripture and a sermon. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month. Often you will experience other creative elements and always you will encounter a warm welcome
Backpack Blessing
As a new school year begins, we invite all kids to bring their backpacks to church on Sunday, September 7 for a special Blessing of the Backpacks. During the service, Pastor Ben will offer a prayer of encouragement and protection over each child, educator and staff member and their school year. This meaningful ritual reminds our young ones that they are cherished members of our faith community and that their journeys matter deeply to us. Let’s surround them with love and support as they head back to school!
